The Feline Faces of Faxon:
A Colorless Cause
By Lara Charlebois
Our shelter is home to dozens of cats;
some short, some tall, some thin, some fat.
Each day they wait to find a good home;
hoping for a family and a place of their own.
Every cat in our shelter is special in its own way;
but the key is to get noticed and to stand out each day.
Personality is essential but looks mean a lot;
sometimes so much, that color is all they’ve got.
Calicos are always popular, their shades mesmerize;
like tigers and torties that catch staring eyes.
White and gray cats have a knack at winning hearts;
then of course, orange cats stand out even in the dark.
Yet it is one type of cat, we have so many of;
the most classic of all, are in much need of your love.
It is our black and white friends who wish to speak of their days;
overshadowed by colors, stealing onlookers gaze.
They are no better, no worse, just black and white,
in need of a family, like so many alike.
Won't you find a place in you heart, for our furry black and our white?
